A Different Consciousness

 
 

“A different consciousness” Is a collection of images about my mom that has dementia. Twenty years ago our family dynamics changed completely as her illness progressed. For the past four years I’ve been photographing her intermittently during the time we spend together. The illness transformed her into a new person, who she was is barely there. At times she remembers me and my sister, she never forgets my dad. She is always singing and she is a new person every day, every minute.
